Dr. OZ from the Opera show, has been quoted on TV saying that energy medicine is the medicine future. What you may not know is his wife is a Reiki Master, and he allows Reiki Masters in his operating room, if the patient requests it. Reiki is here and it is not going anywhere, it continues to become more widely known. It is offered at St Lukes Misti cancer program. Become attuned to the Master Level increase your existing level of Reiki. This is a weekend intensive taking place over 3, 8 hours days. I would normally want to teach this class in a retreat where you would have to pay for your travel, lodging, and meals, however given the present economics, I am trialing this to save you money. Reiki is a way of life, filled with self healing and healing of others. Become a Master so you can attune others to Reiki. Prerequisite is 1st and 2nd level + 6 months practice. This class will be held Dec 3, 4, 5 as an intensive. 9am -4:30 pm with an hour lunch. I intend to keep classes small, for this reason there are only 10 seats available. As a Register Karuna Reiki Master, I am also will be offering in Jan xxxx a Karuna Reiki Master class. There are 3 level to Karuna Reiki, Practitioner, Karuna Master and Karuna Master Teacher. All three can be done in a weekend Intensive or individually.
the advantage of taking your Advanced/Masters from a Registered Karuna Reiki Master is your affiliation with the International Center for Reiki Training, The ICRT, seeks to bring consistency to the practice of Reiki as it continues to prove to be an asset to healing for the Medical Community. It is already embraced by the American Medical Association as a promotion to faster healing. I have included an article from my website http://www.universalfreespiritllc.com of a very recent study done on cardiac patient please take a moment to read the article if you are considering this class and have any doubts of how valuable Reiki is or visit my website at the above web address.

Some of you have asked for more on Reiki, This information as you will read is form a medical journal published a week ago!
As a Registered Karuna Reiki Master, I set out to bring Reiki into the light in Treasure Valley. I understand that for some it will be too much to accept, for others it will bring fear of the unknown, or what may appear to be the impossible.
The Treasure Valley houses many Reiki practitioners. Reiki is accepted and offered by St. Lukes cancer center Misti. So why have many of you the readers not heard of it? Possibly because change seems to be difficult and slow! It has been said that western medicine, cannot effectively treat chronic dis-ease. As a nurse I have seen patients loaded up with medications, it is not a surprise to see a patient taking 6 medications three times a day, with adverse side effects that then need to be treated. At times the adverse side effects appear to be worse than the condition itself.
It was for this reason that I started to look for a better way of treating dis-ease in the body.
Many of our brightest and most brilliant doctor and scientist are aware of Reiki and its benefits. The medical and I will refer here to it as Western Medicine or also dubbed Allopathic medical practitioners, are beginning to realize that there is a more natural way to treat dis-ease.
The newest case in point, is Dr. Mehmet Oz, yes that is correct. The very same Dr. Oz that is seen on the Oprah Winfrey show. I recently read an article about Reiki in the operating room, not knowing, that the famous physician Dr. Oz was the highlight of the article. The article is from the Reiki News magazine, which can be purchased at Barnes and Noble in the magazine section, should you want to investigate Reiki.
Dr. Oz is Vice-Chair and Professor of Surgery at Columbia University. He directs the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. His research interests include heart replacement surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, and health care policy. He has authored over 400 original publications, book chapters, and medical books and has received several patents. He performs around 250 heart operations annually.
However, his accolades do not stop there. He is founder and chairman of HealthCorps, a non-profit organization that pays a small stipend to recent college graduates to spend two years in high schools mentoring students about health, nutrition, and fitness.
Dr. Oz in this particular article on Reiki in surgery, allows Reiki to be used in his cardio surgery?s if the patient is so inclined. His wife is a Reiki Master.
My job as a Nurse is as it is, becomes to educate the public to the benefits of Reiki. To bring if you will to the forefront the awareness of Reiki and its many uses. I had surgery February 12, xxxx, a triple diskectomy with fusion and bone harvest, I inquired about Reiki being done prior to surgery, but was told they had no one to perform Reiki for me. My question to the local hospitals, is are you serving all the public? I could have had a shortened healing time had Reiki been available. Another benefit of Reiki that has been embraced by the American Medical Association as a promotion of accelerated healing times. However knowing this and that while doing Reiki I benefit as well, I within four days post surgery was performing Reiki at the downtown YMCA from 6p-9p and again the following Wednesday.
Reiki is but one CAM (Complimentary Alternative Medicine), it has to be said that Reiki is being medically researched and in a very recent renowned medical journal, the Journal of American Cardiology, this last week published findings of Reiki?s effectiveness.
Effects of Reiki on Autonomic Activity Early After Acute Coronary Syndrome
Rachel S.C. Friedman, MD, Matthew M. Burg, PhD, Pamela Miles, BA, Forrester Lee, MD and Rachel Lampert, MD*
* Section of Cardiology, Department of Internal Medicine, Yale University, School of Medicine, 333 Cedar Street, FMP 3, New Haven, Connecticut xxxx0 (Email: rachel.lampert@yale.edu).
You may visit the Journal of American College of Cardiology online.
The findings of the study were as we all now know stress is highly detrimental to healing and over 70% (WHO (World Health Organization) ) contributory to all disease and illness. All the studies that I have read recently involving Reiki and this includes those from the NCCAM (National Center for Complimentary Alternative Medicine) have validated that the use of Reiki reduces stress. As was found to be the case in this recent study, the stress reduction had an effect on patients recovering from acute coronary syndrome. The physiologic effects (physical body)
Autonomic dysfunction, as measured by heart rate variability (HRV), predicts outcome after myocardial infarction (1). Medications that enhance parasympathetic tone, such as beta-adrenergic blockers, improve outcomes (2). Although the detrimental effects of emotional stress on both autonomic function and cardiovascular disease are well recognized, the beneficial effects of complementary modalities aimed at reducing stress are less well studied. One-half of Americans report visiting practitioners of complementary/alternative medicine (CAM) (3). However, rigorous research evaluating physiologic effects of these therapies is lacking. Reiki, an easily learned healing practice, is given by placing hands lightly on the recipient?s head and torso in a series of noninvasive positions (4). Psychological benefits include reduction of anxiety and perceived stress (5). Reiki?s physiologic effects, however, are less well described (5).
The findings suggest a potential clinical role for Reiki in the after Acute Coronary Syndrome inpatient setting.
The Department of Health and Welfare, the National Institutes of Health and the NCCAM as you can see is a government office. I encourage you to visit their website and read the studies.
The shift to a more natural means of healing, less invasive, less use of chemical drugs is the direction our health care is moving. Something called integrative health care. According to a report by the NCCAM, over 50% of all CAM?s is delivered by MD?s.
There was a time in the xxxx?s that diet and exercise were looked upon as not being a part of health care, it is now widely accepted as a means to maintaining good health.
As we move toward integrative health care, so to must change take place. Education of alternative means of healing will take a large role in the future of healthcare. Reiki can be used in so many clinical settings, even child bearing. It is non-invasive and safe.

Natural Health Consulting is also available. My goal is to facilitate relaxation so your body may heal itself naturally.
